Hand Building with Maria Neal
Hand building class Maria NealBeginners or experienced potters will gain a solid foundation or stretch their abilities working with the hand-building process. Whether it is working with slabs to create mugs, bowls or boxes or learning coiling and pinching techniques to create vases and other forms, Maria’s creativity is sure to build upon your love of clay to create fun and fabulous pieces. Maria will tailor this class to the abilities of the students.

Throwing/Hand-Building with Alison Dodd
Open to beginners and students with any level of clay experience. From basic throwing and hand-building skills, to creating advanced forms and applying surface designs, Alison works with students one on one to help them develop their clay skills.
Four 6 Weeks Sessions

Throwing with Jeremiah Chace

Relief Carving Images and Patterns in Clay 

with Sarah Heimann

Jar with radiator knob Two cupsBe ready to surprise yourself! We will dive into carving clay–how one develops an image, hides part of a form underneath another, why you might make some parts rough, or smooth… We’ll look at lots of images, take risks, and have fun. We will try out various strategies for wrapping images and pattern around simple form. Students are invited to bring images that inspire or intrigue. They should bring any mark-making tools they own, and a readiness to experiment. Sarah will bring a number of tools for students to share and try. Beginners and advanced students are welcome.

Throwing with Marghie Seymour
marghieMarghie will work one on one with students who are either completely new to throwing clay on a wheel or those who have some experience but are looking for help making the material do what they want it to do.  Students will finish this class with an understanding of the properties of clay, how to make basic items, join pieces, and alter forms, and with a baseline knowledge of materials, tools, glazing and firing.

Surface Design with Kri Soleri
DSCN0748Take your work to the next level with this class. This class will explore some surface design possibilities beyond the glaze – dip & fire technique, working with both wax & latex resist for multiple layer designs, oxide application, & surface alteration. Students should have some ceramic experience, either hand building or throwing or will have opportunity to make pots as well as work on surface. There will be multiple firings for experimentation. If possible bring some bisqued work to the first class to start the process.

Throwing with Jeremiah Chace
Kids Throwing Classes at Littleton Studio SchoolThis is the class for the young artist that wants to learn how to throw on the wheel. Students will learn how to center the clay, throw cups, bowls and pots and attach handles. All student work will be glazed during the last class.
6 Week Session Ages 8+
Tuesdays, June 27th to August 8th 9:00AM to 11:30AM
